futur 3d

Putting Futur 3D through its paces:

When does a person’s life end? Who owns a body? Should you help others at the end of life? And what does donation actually mean?

A transparent display case. Inside is a 3D object consisting of layers of white paper. It is reminiscent of the shape of a kidney. There are 3 short texts to read, presented in roll format. They outline situations from the perspective of imaginary affected persons. The relatives of a donor, a recipient and a person living with a 3D-printed organ tell their stories. The audience is invited to meditate and discuss the topic of organ donation.

The display case: To the right and left of the kidney are a scalpel and a key in a kidney dish. They are also constructed using paper cardboard and laser cutting. The scalpel stands for the separation of the organ from the human being. The key stands for the access, the release through the donation. There are seats around the display case where you can sit down, read and engage with the topic. A provocative or medically detailed presentation is deliberately avoided.

The reason for this project is the current debate on the objection solution proposed by the Minister of Health Jens Spahn at that time.
